Thoughts on ADRA International

ADRA International (the Adventist Development and Relief Agency) is a global Christian humanitarian network that shows what it looks like when compassion becomes organized, practical, and persistent.

It serves in more than 118 countries, focusing on health, education, livelihoods, and emergency response so families can live with dignity and hope, “as God intends.”

Why This Ministry Matters

Whether it is setting up clean water systems, helping children back into school, or supporting hospitals with life‑saving oxygen during health crises, ADRA works alongside local communities, not above them, so that change lasts long after the headlines fade.

The agency’s mission is to reflect the character of God by bringing justice, compassion, and practical help to people in crisis or chronic distress, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or politics.

Stories Behind the Statistics

Behind every statistic is a person and a story. In recent years, ADRA supporters helped remote communities in Haiti after a devastating earthquake, providing food, clean water, and medical care in partnership with a local Adventist hospital so injured survivors could receive orthopedic surgery and follow‑up care.

During the deadly COVID‑19 surges in South Asia, ADRA donors funded oxygen generation plants for Adventist hospitals in India, turning simple air into medical‑grade oxygen so patients would never again be turned away for lack of breath.
